Wu’s Tai Chi Chuan Academy, London (UK) Opens in Bethnal Green
Club members, disciples and friends of the International Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan Federation celebrated together as Grandmaster (Eddie) Wu Kwong Yu officially opened the new home of Wu’s Tai Chi Chuan Academy, London (UK) in Bethnal Green, on Saturday 22nd October 2005. The Bethnal Green Academy’s Chief Instructor, Sifu Gary Wragg, hosted the event. Representatives of the London Wu-style academies at Archway and Regent’s Park participated in the celebrations, while other Wu stylists travelled from as far away as Switzerland and the length of the UK - the Isle of Man and Plymouth. Grandmaster Eddie Wu presided over the ribbon cutting ceremony, remarking that the opening of the new location was a major milestone in the evolution of the London club, the result of Sifu Gary’s lifetime devotion to Wu style tai chi chuan. He noted that Sifu Gary pioneered the Wu Style in the UK from the early 1980's, years before the Academy began.
Sifu Gary opened the first London Wu’s Tai Chi Chuan Academy in 1989, where it grew and thrived, becoming noted amongst the international tai chi community for the quality of its instruction and completeness of the syllabus. Sifu Gary is now the Senior representative of the Wu family in Europe. The club’s move to Bethnal Green provides a venue where, as Sifu Gary said, “for the first time the club is available to its members 24/7 which allows us to try new ways to bring tai chi to the community, with new daytime classes available soon”.
Further information about the club is available from http://www.wustyle-europe.com/ or contact Sifu Gary at +44 (0)20 7033 3993.
